Requests and Renewals

Requests

There are two ways to request materials from the 蹤獲扞⑹ Library:
 
1.The "Request" button:
The "Request" button allows 蹤獲扞⑹ patrons to request items from the library's general collection. 
  • These requests, which are also known as holds, can be placed in the Requests Reserves Room at the Prince George campus, or sent through inter-campus mail to a regional campus (Fort St. John, Quesnel, or Terrace).
  • Items held in the Reserves Requests Room at the Prince George Campus will be held for 7 days before being returned to the collection.

2.The "Request Article/Chapter Scan OR Remote Patron Direct Shipping"
The "Request Article/Chapter Scan OR Remote Patron Direct Shipping" button allows patrons to:
  • Request a single article or book chapter to be scanned and emailed to them, 
OR
  •  Distance 蹤獲扞⑹ patrons can enter their personal mailing address to have a book shipped to them.

Recalls

Items from the general collection are guaranteed a three-week loan period. After that they may be recalled. 

"Recalled" means that an item already on loan has been requested by another patron and must be returned.

If an item is recalled:

  • You will receive an email notice alerting that an item was recalled and the item must be returned. 
  • The new due date for recalled items is 7 days from the time the notice is sent. This may be shortened for items needed for Course Reserves.

Renewals

Most material from the general collection can be renewed if it has not been requested by another patron. 

Renewing online:

To renew online access log into My Library Account. Select the items you would like to renew and click "Renew Items." Alternatively, click the "Select All" box and then on "Renew Items" button to renew all of the items that you have checked out.

Some items cannot be renewed online:

  • Overdue items cannot be renewed online. Contact Library Services for assistance.
  • Interlibrary Loans can only be renewed by contacting ill@unbc.ca 

Other ways to renew materials:

Phone: Please call the Library Services Desk at (250) 960-6613 or toll free within 250 area code: 1-888-440-3440. Please have your account information ready.

Email: Please email the library with your name, your 14-digit library account number and items you would like renewed.

Keep in Mind

  • If you cannot return the item in time, please contact us at (250) 960-6613, Toll free within 250 area code: 1-888-440-3440 or via email as soon as possible.
  • Material may be recalled by library staff to be placed on Course Reserves.
  • An automated email system is in place for efficient notification regarding recalls and holds. 蹤獲扞⑹ email addresses are uploaded automatically. Community borrowers must provide current email addresses.
