The Faculty of Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences and Humanities is committed to fostering the foundational human disciplines. Our faculty serve the diverse communities of northern British Columbia through relevant, creative, innovative, and curiosity-driven research and teaching in the fields of Anthropology, English, First Nations Studies, History, Global and International Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, Northern Studies, Political Science, and Women’s and Gender Studies.

Recent Bachelor of Arts in Political Science graduate Sarah Ash will experience what it's like to work in a ministry office, a party caucus office, and a Member of the Legislative Assembly’s constituency office through the B.C. Legislative Internship Program in 2023.
Concepts of wilderness and economic development
First Nations Studies Associate Professor Dr. Daniel Sims has been working extensively with communities in the Tsek’ehne Nation to determine how concepts of wilderness have impacted economic development in the territories. A new grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Insight Grant program will help Sims further his research.
ÂÜÀòÉäÇø offers tuition credit to BC Summer Games participants
ÂÜÀòÉäÇø is finding meaningful ways to support community efforts to have the Prince George 2022 BC Summer Games make a lasting impression on the young athlete participants, including a tuition credit for those who choose to pursue post-secondary education at the University.
Sharing knowledge across generations
Hubert Haldane and Kaitlyn Nyce are the oldest and youngest graduates in the history of the Wilp Wilxo'oskwhl Nisga'a Institute. They each earned ÂÜÀòÉäÇø Bachelor of Arts in First Nation Studies degrees in 2022. They learned from each other during their studies, sharing knowledge through generations.

Dr. Wendy Rodgers is ÂÜÀòÉäÇø's new Vice President Academic and Provost. In her new role, Dr. Rodgers will lead the comprehensive strategic planning, development, and implementation of academic priorities at ÂÜÀòÉäÇø.
Student paper earns scholarship prize
ÂÜÀòÉäÇø student Lydia Kinasewich won the W. Kaye Lamb scholarship for her research paper about the history of Harrison Hot Springs. Awarded by the British Columbia Historial Federation, the competition is open to all students writing about topics related to B.C.'s history.
