Grant and Contract Form

The Grant and Contract Form is now available through the Romeo Research Portal and must be submitted on-line.  Approval from your Chair, Dean and the Vice-President Research and Innovation must be obtained prior to submission of grant and contract proposals to an agency.

Once submitted in the portal, approval from your Program Chair and the Faculty Dean are collected automatically by the system.  The Office of Research and Innovation must receive your application form with these approvals a minimum of 5 days prior to the agency deadline so please give time for review by the Chair and Dean when you submit. Additional time is always appreciated and can result in a more thorough review of your application.

GlobalScholarships.com $3,000 Scholarship for International Students

GlobalScholarships.com is offering a $3,000 annual scholarship to support one eligible international student for Fall 2025 studies. This scholarship is open to prospective or current international students enrolled in any postsecondary degree program, including diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph.D., and professional programs like law and medicine.

Eligibility: Students studying in a country where they are not a citizen or permanent resident.

Timeline:

  • Application Deadline: May 31, 2025
  • Finalists Notified: June 15–30, 2025
  • Winner Announced: July 15–25, 2025

Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the winner’s institution.

Branch Out Neurological Foundation Graduate Grant

This Graduate Grant is a matched salary-stipend award designed for graduate students conducting NeuroCAM studies at partnering universities. Selected students will receive a $22,000 salary for the academic year from September to August, with their academic supervisor contributing 40% of the salary value ($8,800). This grant is available for a duration of one year.

Brain Canada

Brain Canada develops and supports collaborative, multidisciplinary, multi-institutional research across the neurosciences.

BC Knowledge Development Fund

The BC Knowledge Development Fund (BCKDF) supports research that: maximizes the economic and social benefits of investing in research infrastructure within BC; promotes excellence in research and the enhancement of research infrastructure within the province; encourages increased collaboration among the province’s post-secondary institutions, as well as between post-secondary institutions and industry; improves BC’s ability to attract and retain high quality researchers and skilled technicians; and, ensures BC’s public post-secondary institutions and teaching hospitals are able to compete successfully for private sector and federal funding.

Canada Foundation for Innovation

The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) supports the development of research infrastructure (equipment, facilities and installations) needed to undertake leading edge research and develop advanced technologies through institutional funding programs. CFI contributes 40% of the total eligible project costs, usually in partnership with the British Columbia Knowledge Development Fund (BCKDF) which contributes another 40%, with the remaining 20% coming from the institution. Valuable research infrastructure at ÂÜÀòÉäÇø, from lab space, high performance computing and essential field equipment, has been funded by the CFI.

Canada Research Chairs Program

In 2000, the Government of Canada created a new permanent program to establish 2000 research professorships – Canada Research Chairs – in universities across the country by 2008. The Canada Research Chairs Program invests $300 million a year to attract and retain some of the world's most accomplished and promising minds. Canadian universities nominate Canada Research Chairs and administer their funds. Each eligible degree-granting institution receives an allocation of Chairs. For each Chair, a university nominates a researcher whose work complements its strategic research plan and who meets the program's high standards. Three members of a college of reviewers, composed of experts from around the world, assess each nomination and recommend whether to fund the position.

Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute

The Canadian Cancer Society supports research which leads towards the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.

Canadian Institutes for Health Research

Consisting of 13 institutes, the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) supports health research in the areas of biomedical, clinical, health services and systems, population health, societal and cultural dimensions of health, and environmental influences on health through a number of funding opportunities and competitions held by the institutes.

CIHR also provides funding opportunities to support universities, teaching hospitals and research institutes. CIHR promotes partnerships with the voluntary sector, provincial governments, industry and pharmaceutical companies and has a strong mandate towards knowledge translation and commercialization. ÂÜÀòÉäÇø faculty members apply to various funding competitions from the different institutes, depending on their discipline and research focus.

The Cancer Research Society funds research that supports the advancement of science aimed at preventing, detecting, and treating all types of cancer.

Fulbright Canada

Fulbright Canada supports educational exchanges for students and scholars between Canada and the United States.

International Development Research Centre

The International Development Research Centre supports research in developing countries.

Michael Smith Health Research BC

Michael Smith Health Research BC (MSHRBC) supports health research by: leading, partnering and serving as a catalyst to advance provincial, inter-provincial and national initiatives that expand health research support and opportunities; working with health research stakeholders to identify, prioritize and respond to provincial priorities; and, delivering innovative programs to address the key building blocks of a vibrant, sustainable research effort. MSHRBC-funded programs attract and retain excellent researchers, enhance investigators’ productivity and ability to bring in national and international sources of funding, and support new initiatives specific to the needs of BC’s health system and economy.

Mitacs

Mitacs is a federally and provincially funded organization that provides financial support for research. Mitacs brings together academia, industry and the public sector through research and training initiatives that assist the knowledge-based economy. This objective is achieved primarily through the support of students and post-doctoral fellows, including trainees who undertake collaborative research involving a ÂÜÀòÉäÇø faculty member and a private-sector partner. 

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) is the national instrument for making strategic investments in Canada's capability in science and technology.

NSERC supports both basic university research through discovery grants and project research through partnerships among universities, governments and the private sector, as well as the advanced training of highly qualified people.

NSERC’s role is to make investments in people, discovery and innovation for the benefit of all Canadians. They invest in people by supporting some 22,000 university students and postdoctoral fellows in their advanced studies. They promote discovery by funding more than 10,000 university professors every year. And they help make innovation happen by encouraging more than 800 Canadian companies to invest in university research. These programs support many students and faculty researchers at ÂÜÀòÉäÇø.

Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) is an arm's-length federal agency that promotes and supports university-based research and training in the social sciences and humanities.

SSHRC-funded research fuels innovative thinking about real life issues, in connection with communities, governments, industry and other research partners, including the economy, education, health care, the environment, immigration, globalization, language, ethics, peace, security, human rights, law, poverty, mass communication, politics, literature, addiction, pop culture, sexuality, religion, Aboriginal rights, the past, our future.

SSHRC grants and fellowships programs allow researchers to explore, invent and develop deep expertise in a wide variety of disciplines, as well as to target research to specific social needs. SSHRC programs also provide support for research training and research communication activities.
