Funding Supports Knowledge Mobilization Research
Prince George, BC Turning research into action is the goal of most researchers and 蹤獲扞⑹ Nursing Professor Dr. Martha MacLeod is exploring the best ways to mobilize the knowledge gained in scientific studies into real world situations.
Dr. MacLeod, the Northern Health 蹤獲扞⑹ Knowledge Mobilization Research Chair, secured $250,000 in matched funding through the federally and provincially funded British Columbia Support for People and Patient-Oriented Research and Trials Unit (BC SUPPORT Unit) announced last Wednesday.
Dr. MacLeod will use the matched funding to further her work into exploring ways that research evidence can be useable and useful as well as finding ways to improve the uptake of research evidence and other knowledge into practice.
As Knowledge Mobilization Research Chair, I will be working with researchers and students at 蹤獲扞⑹ and with clinicians and others at Northern Health to extend ways to develop responsive, relevant research evidence and finding ways to move it into action, Dr. MacLeod says.
The BC SUPPORT Unit was developed under Canadas Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR), with support from the Governments of Canada and British Columbia, and provincial partners.
One of the central goals of all research activities at 蹤獲扞⑹ is to discover new knowledge that has a transformative benefit to our region, province, country and world, says 蹤獲扞⑹ Interim Vice-President Research and Graduate Programs Dr. Geoff Payne. This matched funding will allow Dr. Martha MacLeod to study how excellence in patient and family-centred care can be an everyday reality in communities across Northern British Columbia.
