July 8, 1999 For Immediate Release

Starting in the Fall of 1999, the University of Northern British Columbia Wellness Centre will be offering a new wellness resource for students, staff, and faculty. Walk-in physician services will be available two to three times a week in the campus Wellness Centre.

Prince George physicians interested in participating in the ÂÜÀòÉäÇø program are invited to submit a proposal for services to the ÂÜÀòÉäÇø Wellness Centre.

The on-campus physician services will focus on the non-emergency medical needs of the ÂÜÀòÉäÇø community. Students and employees are still encouraged to establish contact with local physicians for on-going medical care.

"The decision to provide this new service is based on the results of a pilot project which had local physicians visit the campus to provide a part-time service," says ÂÜÀòÉäÇø Health and Wellness Centre Coordinator Robin Johnson. "That project received substantial positive feedback from the ÂÜÀòÉäÇø community and we expect that regular, on-campus physician services will help to improve the overall health of people at ÂÜÀòÉäÇø."
