Researcher, educator, leader: a journey from the heart
蹤獲扞⑹ researcher Dr. Davina Banner-Lukaris shared her journey and vision for patient-centred research at the Faculty of Human and Health Sciences' inaugural Professorial Lecture.
Prince George, B.C. - A researcher, educator and leader at 蹤獲扞⑹, Dr. Davina Banner-Lukaris shared highlights from her life and academic journey during the Faculty of Human and Health Sciences inaugural Professorial Lecture.
The lecture series is intended as an opportunity for individuals to share the personal stories behind their scholarly achievements with the University community. Interim Dean Dr. Margot Parkes says the concept is borrowed from her home university, the in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and has already been adopted by 蹤獲扞⑹s Faculty of Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences and Humanities.
During the lecture, Banner-Lukaris, a 蹤獲扞⑹ School of Nursing Professor, shared personal stories from her childhood in Worcestershire, England to her undergraduate years and early career as a nurse that illustrated her professional path as a researcher seeking to improve the lives of Canadians living with complex health conditions.
Currently serving as 蹤獲扞⑹s Interim Associate Vice-President Research Operations, Banner-Lukaris said shes always looking to find the person in her research and tell their story. Shes passionate about patient-driven, patient-led research that finds ways to elevate the patient experience.
Banner-Lukaris has worked with Indigenous and marginalized populations to support meaningful co-production in research and is scheduled to speak on optimizing accessibility and equity in clinical research at the in Vancouver on February 25.
