Bachelor's degree inspires Juister to enrol in graduate school
If there are two words that best describe Jaime Juister, then perhaps they are lifelong learner.
After completing the Social Services Worker diploma at Northern Lights College, Juister wanted more.
Two years ago, she enrolled at University of Northern British Columbias Peace River-Liard campus in Fort St. John in pursuit of her Bachelor of Social Work degree.
I wanted to continue on with my education so I could be a bigger help to my Indigenous communities that Im a part of, says Juister. I want to work with empowering women and children and to have a bachelor degree was necessary to create change and have an impact.
Juister was one of eight students who earned Bachelor of Social Work degrees at the at the campus regional graduation celebration on June 7.
As she reflects on the last two years, Juister says the path toward her new Bachelor of Social Work credentials was one of change for the better.
What Ill remember the most is the personal growth, change and healing within myself, she says.
While earning a bachelor degree is a remarkable achievement, Juisters not stopping there.
In September, shes enrolled in the Master of Social Work program at 蹤獲扞⑹s Peace River-Liard campus.
I hope to continue on after that and be a permanent student, she says. I love studying. I really, really love the instructors at 蹤獲扞⑹. I feel at home there. I feel that Im not done yet.
I dont feel that my journey as a student has been completed yet.
