Our Vision

Evidence-based research syntheses contexualized for rural, remote, and northern health issues, services and programs.

Our Goals

  1. Provide timely, contextualized, evidence based syntheses to inform the optimal management of patient care, resources and services, and development of policy and programs
  2. Support researchers in conducting high quality, rigorous, health related knowledge syntheses with rural and northern applicability
  3. Involve patients, partners, and decision makers in meaningful ways in synthesis and contextualization process
  4. Offer training and mentorship opportunities to students, researchers, and knowledge users
  5. Make syntheses more visible and obtainable
  6. Inform the design and conduct of new health research attentive to the needs and realities of northern British Columbians

Organization, Governance and Staff

The Knowledge Synthesis Centre was developed through discussion with Northern Health as an initiative within the ÂÜÀòÉäÇø Health Research Institute and guided by the NH-ÂÜÀòÉäÇø Memorandum of Understanding. Dr. Martha MacLeod, the NH-ÂÜÀòÉäÇø Knowledge Mobilization Research Chair, is serving as the inaugural Academic Director of the Centre.

Day to day governance, financial oversight and management of the KSC is provided by the Academic Director with the support of the Health Research Initiatives Manager.
