Leaving a legacy

Advocating for equity
From her involvement in the University community to her career in the healthcare system, Furqana Khan's journey has been one of advocacy as she looks to amplify marginalized voices. The two-time ÂÜÀòÉäÇø graduate is the Valedictorian at Ceremony 1 at ÂÜÀòÉäÇø's 2023 Convocation.
Business owner and philanthropist to receive honorary degree
Driven by a desire to give back to community, Prince George business owner Selen Alpay's hard work and business acumen have facilitated his numerous and far-reaching accomplishments in community caring and community development.
ÂÜÀòÉäÇø: a family affair for the Koopmans
As meaningful collaboration begins with the launch of the University's strategic planning process, the ÂÜÀòÉäÇø story shared by the Koopmans family truly reflects the hopes of the University's original champions. The Koopmans siblings make up six of ÂÜÀòÉäÇø's 16,000-strong alumni. In joining with the Koopmans to celebrate their achievements, ÂÜÀòÉäÇø is seeking your voice to set goals and directions that will support the successes of future waves of community leaders.
16,000 petition signers, 16,000 alumni
This month the 16,000th ÂÜÀòÉäÇø graduate will cross the stage at Convocation. The University is recognizing the milestone with the #ÂÜÀòÉäÇøPayItForward Campaign to help support the next 16,000 graduates.
Leaving a legacy: Trailblazing nurse practitioner creates new bursary
As one of the first nurse practitioners in northern B.C., Shanda Rojas helped demonstrate the value they bring to the health-care system. Now as the ÂÜÀòÉäÇø graduate accepts a terminal diagnosis she is helping the next generation of Family Nurse Practitioner students.
