20 Timberwolves student-athletes who were recognized s Academic All-Canadians
A record 20 Timberwolves student-athletes were recognized by the University of Northern British Columbia as Academic All-Canadians for their teamwork and academic success during the 2017-2018 year.

The support from donors is so instrumental in the success of student-athletes, says Emily Aase, who spent five years on the women’s basketball team as a student-athlete.

“Their continued support on and off the court made my university experience so memorable, and created further opportunities to achieve my goals,” she said. “I am thankful for donor’s selfless contributions to me, this program, and I know we are all looking forward to following in their footsteps by giving back to and the community.”

Aase was among a record 20 Timberwolves student-athletes who were recognized by the University of Northern British Columbia as Academic All-Canadians for their teamwork and academic success during the 2017-2018 year.

The annual U SPORTS Academic All- Canadian ceremony honours students who have achieved a Grade Point Average of 3.67 (an A- letter grade) or higher. Many recipients of the award say that without donor support of the athletics program they would not be able to focus their efforts in the classroom and on their respective Timberwolves teams.

“As student-athletes, it is often the ‘athlete’ side that people see or think about. To me, the Academic All- Canadian award recognizes the massive commitment we make to excelling both in sports, and in the classroom,” said Clay Kiiskila, Men’s Soccer student athlete. “The support of donors is so critical to our success, and I am beyond thankful to every person who has played a part in this achievement.”
